Steam Train to call at Ilkeston Station

Vintage Trains are pleased to announce that their ‘Christmas White Rose’ steam train from Birmingham to York will call at the newly re-opened Ilkeston Station to pickup passengers on Saturday 9th December.

The Christmas White Rose will be steam hauled throughout the round trip to York by ex-Great Western Railway Castle Class loco No: 5043 ‘Earl of Mount Edgcumbe’. The steam train will start at Tyseley outside Birmingham shortly before 08:00, picking up additional passengers at Coleshill Parkway, Nuneaton, Leicester and East Midlands Parkway before making its final passenger pickup at Ilkeston around 10:30. The steam train arrives into York station at 13:00 where the passengers will have 4 hours to explore the city before the return departure.

Once on board the passengers will travel in the restored heritage coaches with a Premier Dining option of a 4-course Christmas meal in authentic Pullman carriages. Standard Class passengers enjoy the use of the buffet and shop, serving more traditional railway fayre including bacon rolls, tea & coffee and of course, mince pies.
