Golden Year for Stuart Line Cruises!

One of Devon’s top attractions, family run Stuart Line Cruises, not only celebrated its Golden Anniversary but has also scooped Gold at the Visit Devon Tourism Awards, as Small Attraction of the Year, at the end of last year.

Stuart Line Cruises first boat trips were run by Tony Stuart in the summer of 1968 from the Clock Tower on Exmouth seafront to the cries of “half an hour trip around the bay – pay on the boat” and during the 50 years since, the business has passed from Tony, to his son Ian and wife Phillipa and in 2013 their son Jake also joined the business

The Stuart Line Cruises of today have expanded with a fleet comprising of Tudor Rose and the Pride of Exmouth, which last year underwent huge extension and refurbishment, a RIB for high speed trips around the bay, a booking office on Exmouth Seafront and a brand-new booking office in Exmouth Marina.

To help mark this golden year, the family now have the added to the celebrations by being awarded Gold in the Small Attraction of the Year category in Visit Devon, Devon Tourism Awards and are through to the finals in the South West Tourism Awards in February 2019.

Ian Stuart said "This is a very special year for us, to reach a 50th anniversary is a true milestone and we have support of our community and the dedication of our great team to thank for getting us here. This year has been one of our best so far, with more holidaymakers coming to the area and all the positive developments in Exmouth, the town can only continue to become a more incredible place to live and visit.  To now be awarded Gold in the Devon Tourism Awards for Small Attraction of the Year really is the icing on the cake!"

Jake Stuart said "Its definitely great to be able to carry on the family business  into its 50th year. Tradition is important, but we also need to develop, so along with all trips that we are well known for, we also have an exciting timetable of Special Events which bring a whole new experience to being on our boats.  We look forward to seeing all our regular customers and welcoming new ones aboard for another 50 years to come".
