Celebrate Mother's Day in Shakespeare's England

Shakespeare’s England is offering Mum’s a whole host of treats including free admission to attractions and special offers with which to celebrate on Sunday 26 March. With so much to see and do, Shakespeare’s England is the place to spoil Mum’s and Grandma’s this Mothering Sunday.

Visit The MAD Museum and interact with crazy machines, build your own marble runs and get inspired to create back at home. This Mother’s Day MAD is offering 10% off a family ticket (£19.80) or 20% off an individual ticket for mum (£7.02). Just say “MAD Mum” when you arrive at the reception desk to redeem your discounts!

Youngsters are invited to drop-in to the Guild Chapel between 11am and 1pm on 25 March to make a posy for mum, guided by Avon Floral Art and using flowers present and popular in Shakespeare's day. Information on the Guild Chapel's hidden wall paintings and the 30-plus flowers depicted will also be available. Children can also complete an Activity Trail, learning all about the Chapel, which dates back almost 800 years, and its medieval paintings - covered up on orders given to Shakespeare's father in the 16th Century. Entry and all events are free, with donations welcomed. Children must be accompanied.

Treat your mum to a day out at the Shakespeare Family Homes. Mary Arden’s Farm reopens for the season on 18 March where you can meet the fluffy new arrivals, enjoy Falconry displays and have a go at traditional Tudor activities. At Anne Hathaway’s Cottage take inspiration from the gardens and make your mum a handmade flower creation in the activity tent. Or treat your mum to an afternoon of cream tea and cake at Hall’s Croft.

Anne will present an evening of songs and stories, music and memories including filming with Daniel Craig, performing Shakespeare at Buckingham Palace and making ‘Last Tango in Halifax’! Reid is one of Britain’s most-loved actors but what is less well known is her life as a cabaret performer. Over the past two years Reid’s cabaret has sold out at numerous venues across London and now she embarks on a UK tour. All tickets cost £20.
