Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, Ireland’s largest Cathedral, has been an integral part of Dublin’s history since 1191. It stands adjacent to the famous well where tradition has it Saint Patrick is baptised and converts on his visit to Dublin. The Cathedral is the final resting place of approx. 700 people including world famous author Jonathan Swift who was Dean of the Cathedral. Today the Cathedral is the National Cathedral of the Church of Ireland (an Anglican Communion). Open to all as an architectural and historical site, and principally as a place of worship.
