Dominating Halifax town centre, the impressive and historic Borough Market was built between 1891 and 1896. The market’s Victorian architecture, with its exquisite facade, ornate clock tower, decorative cast iron, glass roof, 76 chimneys and intricate carvings, make this a building of great architectural and historic interest and the building is Grade II* listed.
The 120 units inside attract 5 million visitors a year and the Borough Market was named Best Market Hall in England in 2008. You'll find stall holders happy to take the time to advise you on their products, recommend recipes and to share a smile and a joke.
