Step back 5,000 years to explorer one of Europe’s best preserved prehistoric settlements. The village was first uncovered during a storm in 1858. Ever since, Skara Brae has been a place of discovery for archaeologists, students, artists and enthusiasts. Skaill House, Orkneys finest mansion was built in the 1620s and the home of the man who discovered Skara Brae.
