The Museum tells the Story of Chesterfield, from its beginnings as a Roman fort on Ryknield Street to the building of the ‘Crooked Spire’ Church and its growth as a market town. The Museum also explores the town’s industrial heritage, tracing the development of coal mining and local industries. Chesterfield’s most famous Victorian residents, George Stephenson, the ‘Father of the Railways’ is also featured. Open Monday and Thursday – Saturday 10am – 4pm
