Nestled high above the River Thames with panoramic views over the Berkshire countryside, these gardens capture the grandeur of a bygone age. Over the course of 300 years, each family that fell in love with this place added their own extravagant touch, creating a series of distinct gardens. Miles of walks meander through majestic beech woodlands and along riverbank paths, while a giant yew-tree maze and acres of space to roam, help make this a great place to visit.

Cliveden has been a glittering hub of society for centuries, especially as the home of Nancy and Waldorf Astor during the early 20th century. Exactly 50 years ago Cliveden was engulfed in the ‘Profumo Affair’ scandal, when it emerged that Profumo met Christine Keeler here. With spectacular flower displays, miles of walks and a famous maze, it’s a perfect place for the whole family to relax and unwind. A short guided tour of the luxury hotel is available on certain days.

Note: no groups on Sundays, August weekends  or Bank Holidays.
