Wildwood Escot hosts the perfect environment for a collection of native and formerly-native wildlife, and is the ideal place for a family day out or school visit. Navigate the maze, go back in time at the Saxon village and stumble across animals that would once have roamed Devon.

Meet our animals including wild cats, otters, wild boar, red squirrels and our stunning birds of prey. Joining them in 2016, lynx, pine martens and wolves will also find sanctuary here. There’s woodland to explore, wetlands to navigate, a maze to solve, a Living history Saxon Village, a great restaurant and so much to enjoy in a day at Wildwood Escot.

  • Follow the secret woodland paths
  • Get to the middle of the giant maze,
  • Dare to take a leap of faith on the Forest Drop Slide,
  • Meet red squirrels, cheeky otters, wild boar, owls, birds of prey and arriving in 2016: wild cats, lynx, pine martens and wolves
  • Discover hidden woodland playgrounds
  • Explore our living history Saxon Village
  • Try our Letterbox challenge!
  • Enjoy delicious food in our Coach House Restaurant

We understand what it takes to achieve a successful group visit. We appreciate that organisers need a good price, good food, a ‘contented driver' deal, and, above all, confidence that the day will be an enjoyable experience for their particular group.

We offer a range of Escot experiences for you to choose from including:

Park Visit
Come and meet our rare Red Squirrels in our walk-through encounter, say hello to our family of cheeky otters at feeding times, be amazed at the falconry displays featuring owls and magnificent birds of prey, find your way through our Beech Hedge world-class maze and wander through the woodland paths and gardens.

We also offer some more unusual activities incuding:

Forest School
Gain an insight into survival in the wild. Try fire making, campfire cooking, whittling, care and use of tools and a swamp walk (optional). All under the expert eye of our on-site education team.

Living History
Delve into the past in our Saxon Village and enjoy activities focused around the time of the Anglo Saxons. Activities may include: wattle and daub, lighting fires, making pennies, bread making, spoon making, forging, milling, pole lathing, splitting logs and dressing up (optional but encouraged).

Our food is all home-cooked and served in our beautiful Coach House Restaurant. Open all day for delicious breakfasts, lunches, Devon cream teas and snacks.
