Our narrowboat 'Eirlys' (Welsh for 'snowdrop') has been a regular sight on the Llangollen canal for three decades.

Brightly decorated in the traditional canalboat style, Eirlys can seat over 50 passengers in comfort - ideal for large coach parties. Tommy is suitable for parties up to 20 people so we can accommodate both large and small groups.

Peter Jones has a long history of narrowboating. He has been navigating on the Llangollen Canal for almost 30 years, so you know you are in capable hands on a trip in his restaurant boat Eirlys.

As you drift serenely along the canal at walking pace, you can enjoy the fine cuisine with the spectacular backdrop of North Wales' magnificent scenery. An interesting commentary accompanying your trip gives insight into local history and the general history of canals in the UK.

Trips

Our season runs from Easter to the end of October and we operate trips to a variety of destinations, offering a choice of scenery and canal experiences.

Eirlys

Eirlys is the boat for public trips and for groups of over 20 passengers. Trips run from our base at Trevor to Froncysyllte.

The 45-minute trips include two crossings of the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct. Trips run daily from March to October at 12noon, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm. Visitors planning ahead will find it advantageous to ring beforehand in case of last-minute changes.

There's tea, coffee and a bar on board, and there is a commentary about canal history and canalside features as we travel.

Charter Trips

We also operate a 2-hour trip, which takes in either a trip up the Dee Valley as far as Bryn Howel or to Chirk Marina, in addition to the Aqueduct trip above. These are only available to booked parties with a minimum of 20 passengers and are the trip on which meals are served. See our menus

Other destinations include Chirk Aqueduct, the Poacher's Pocket, Lion Quays and Llangollen.

Tommy

Tommy is available for private charter for parties of up to 20 guests who can choose from a variety of menus. We also serve Sunday lunches on Tommy, providing an opportunity for smaller groups - even couples - to enjoy a 2-hour trip and a two-course roast lunch for only £19 per person.

Public Trips

We also do a timetable of public trips, details of which are on our website.
