A Scorching Father's Day for RH&DR

As the weather reached record temperatures visitors came out in their hoards to sup on beer and cider.

The beer festival at New Romney Station stocked an exclusive cider from BEARDspoon to celebrate the RH&DR's 9th anniversary.

Now sold out this cider will be re-introduced in time for the 90th Anniversary Birthday Party on 15th and 16th July. Another local brewer stole the show, Romney Marsh Brewery. Husband and wife team, Matt and Kathy produce 6 beers from pale ales to porters and produce RHDR souvenir beers and bottles, to add to their ever expanding ventures the pair have recently launched Ales by the Rails at Dungeness Station as their tap room.

Opened in Friday 16th June by Mayor of New Romney Peter Coe, Damien Collin (Shepway MP) and RH&DR General Manager Danny Martin, Ales by the Rails proved popular at the weekend with regular cask top ups needed to cater to the increasing number of guests wishing to relax in the beer garden and watch the trains arrive and depart- a perfect combination.

'Gladys' the Bar Car was booked out for both days after being reintroduced to service following an extensive renovation kindly financed through sponsorship by Romney Marsh Brewery. 'Gladys' now have a distinctly more modern interior and can be hired out for special occasions.
