Volunteer at Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre

Do you sometimes find yourself with spare time that you would like to put to good use? Have you ever considered that you might like to volunteer but are unsure of what it entails?

We have something for everyone here at Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre! From regular hours to one off sessions, from in centre duties to checking out our walking routes, we appreciate help in all aspects of running the centre and it’s surrounding meadows and walks.

Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre is now run by a charity, Grow Cook Learn with the main aim to connect people to the food, history and the landscape of the Shropshire Hills. We rely on grant funding and income from our visitors, as well as the kind help of our volunteers, to keep the centre open for all to enjoy. We have some volunteers that help one day a week in the shop, or the café and also have volunteers that are more keen to get outside and assist with works in the meadows. Maybe you think you’d just like to enjoy some walks? We need our walking routes and Geocache trails checked regularly for signage etc. and are very grateful for any help with these.

Catherine Collier, General Manager at Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre, says, “We are very grateful to our volunteers for any time they can spare to help us. We understand that some people will enjoy helping out in the centre whilst others would rather be outside or have a more relaxed structure to the time that they can give us.”

For more information, pop in to the centre or call us on 01588676060.

“Volunteering is very rewarding and also looks great on your CV!”
