Amberley Museum: Traditional Crafts Weekend

Amberley Museum will be hosting their 3rd annual Traditional Crafts event this May Bank Holiday Weekend, Saturday 27th to Monday 29th May.

With over 50 craftspeople visiting the Museum for this three day event, some demonstrating their skills and techniques, others hosting market stalls selling their craft products. Craft stalls will include: Jewellery, Quilting, Photography, Ceramics, Sweet Treats and much more.

Our resident craftspeople will also be running demonstrations over the weekend, including the Woodturners, Greenwood Village, Walking Stick Makers and Pottery. Over the weekend we will also have ‘RepTylers’ a mobile zoo visiting the site, with reptile handling sessions at a small additional charge.

On Saturday 27th at 1pm and 2.30pm Thakeham Morris Dancers will putting on Morris dancing displays on the village green, then on Sunday 28th at 1pm and 2pm there will be displays from Magog Morris Dancers.

For this event weekend, the Museum is offering a discount to local Sussex residents who live within the following postcode areas: PO18, PO19, PO20, PO21, GU28, GU29, RH20, BN11, BN12, BN13, BN14, BN15, BN16, BN17, BN18, BN44 and BN99. To redeem the offer, you need to take proof of address with you on the day. You will gain entry to visit the Museum at the child rate of £6.00 or £6.60 with GiftAid.

Amberley Museum is a remarkable heritage site in the Sussex South Downs, with 36 acres to explore and over 40 exhibit buildings to visit, focusing on industrial and transport history. Take a ride on the narrow gauge railway and historic bus. Exhibits include the telecommunications hall, electricity hall, working printshop, lime kilns, steam engines and more.

The Museum is home to traditional craftspeople such as the woodturners and blacksmith, with a café, gift shop, nature trails and picnic areas. The Museum is accessibility friendly and dogs are welcome on site. We have been awarded the Kennel Club ‘Best Dog Friendly Attraction Award’ for Days Out 2016.
