Amberley Museum Spring Bus Show

Amberley Museum is hosting its annual Spring Bus Show on Sunday 22nd April. Enjoy your first opportunity of the season to ride the historic buses around the museum, with a wonderful display of the Museum buses and visiting exhibitors.

The visiting buses include a Leyland Titan PD2/10 1958, from the Portsmouth Corporation.  It has been rescued after being stored in a barn for around 40 years. It is now being restored by a team of Sussex enthusiasts, which include the former Engineering Director of Stagecoach South, Richard Alexander.  The bus (as seen in the photograph) is still in its original condition, including some original advertising posters from the 1970s, and is awaiting its full restoration.  The bus will be on display at the Museum for this event day.

Other visiting buses include:  Leyland TDI, 1929; Leyland Queen Mary, 1966; Triumph Tiger 110, 1955; Bristol SC, 1960; and some modern buses including an Alexander Dennis Enviro E30D.  There will also be some model displays on show, which include one of the Southdown’s Hilsea bus garage.

‘Discover’ the exhibits around the Museum,’ Learn’ about the visiting buses around the site, and ‘Have fun’ riding some of them around the 36 acre site.  Also on this day you can enjoy a ride on their narrow gauge railway, with one of their resident steam trains running on this day.
