Undisturbed for 1,300 years, an Anglo-Saxon King and his treasured possessions were unearthed days before the outbreak of the Second World War, changing perceptions of the past.


You can discover more of the fascinating story by exploring the ancient burial mounds. We also have stunning replica as well as original finds from the mounds and a reconstruction of the king’s burial chamber. Visitors can sit, touch and relax inside Edith Pretty’s country house and enjoy the beautiful seasonal colours of this atmospheric landscape.
