Who we are
Redwings is the UK’s largest horse sanctuary, providing a safe and happy home to over 1,500 rescued horses, ponies, donkeys and mules across ten sites – including Redwings Mountains, near Forfar in Angus. Here animal lovers can get up close and cuddly with its adorable residents and hear their stories – best of all, it’s completely FREE!

What to do
Redwings Mountains is the charity’s newest visitor centre, opened in March 2016. Set in 220 acres of beautiful paddocks and woodland, the centre provides a place of sanctuary to 90 horses, ponies and donkeys – not forgetting two sheep called Toffee and Treacle, as well as bountiful wildlife including red squirrels and mountain birds.

After a relaxing stroll, you can enjoy a warm cuppa and tasty snacks in the Nosebag Café, while an on-site gift shop offers a wide range of souvenirs, with all proceeds supporting the hundreds of animals in Redwings’ care.

Having met the centre’s lovable residents, you might like to sponsor one of the charity’s adorable Adoption Stars, either for yourself or as a thoughtful gift for a friend or loved one. A year’s adoption costs just £15!

“We Love Horses” at Redwings Mountains

Stop by Redwings Mountains this autumn holiday from 29th September to 30th October, and join in with fun-filled “We Love Horses” weeks. Take part in a range of fun-filled activities, including have-a-go pony grooming, exciting tours, fascinating talks as well as special meet ‘n’ greet sessions with some of its adorable residents, including handsome cob Gibson.

Admission is completely free, and dogs on leads are welcome too.
