Tatton Park is a beautiful historic estate in Cheshire, which welcomes over 800,000 visitors each year. Home to a Neo-Classical mansion, 50 acres of award-winning gardens, working historical farm and Tudor Old Hall all set in 1000 acres of deerpark, there are several entertaining tours to choose from and a lively events programme including Christmas and outdoor theatre.
Attractions at Tatton Park include the 18th century Mansion, Tudor Old Hall, working historic Farm, 50 acres of award-winning Gardens and of course the parkland itself which is home to two herds of deer.
Over 100 events are staged annually including Easter and Christmas activities, in addition to historical re-enactments, antique fairs, car shows, outdoor theatre and horticultural events including the prestigious RHS Flower Show each July.
Tatton’s Gardens cover 50 acres and enjoy year-round colour. As each generation of the Egerton family added to the gardens while they were in residence by moving the parkland boundary back each time, there are over 250 years of collections to be enjoyed. Of particular interest are the Italian Garden, Rose Garden, Topiary, Pinery / Vinery and Japanese Garden, while produce from the Walled Kitchen Garden is on sale in the Garden Shop and features in the lunch and afternoon tea menus. Don’t miss the 19th century Fernery, designed by Joseph Paxton.
The elegant Mansion house sits in an elevated position overlooking the gardens and parkland. It was designed by Samuel and Lewis William Wyatt in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Highlights of any visit to the Mansion include paintings by Canaletto and Van Dyck, the extensive collection of Gillows furniture and ceramics plus one of the finest libraries in the country. The Maurice Egerton exhibition and regular seasonal exhibitions are included in your admission.
Guided tours and Special Interest historical tours are available at all the attractions, which bring to life the stories of the families who lived at the estate over its 300 hundred year history, both the estate workers and the Egerton family who lived here until 1958.
Dedicated lunch and high tea packages are on offer at both of our catering establishments. The former head Gardener’s Cottage is full of character and enjoys views over the orchards, offering speciality lunches and afternoon teas. Groups may prefer to sit together in the Stables restaurant which also serves lunches, snacks and teas which are freshly prepared using ingredients from the gardens and meat from the estate.
Visits to Tatton Park should be pre-booked in order to qualify for discounted group rates, guaranteed coach parking and the driver’s lunch voucher.
