Aillwee Cave & Birds of Prey Centre, Ballyvaughan, Co. Clare – a very special place in the heart of the Burren. Let the staff at Aillwee welcome you to the dramatic underworld of this unique landscape. Your tour consists of a 35 minute guided walk through beautiful caverns, over bridged chasms, under weird formations and alongside the thunderous waterfall which sometimes gently sprays the unsuspecting visitor.
Ireland’s Premier Showcave is an experience which should be part of everyone’s Burren visit. Aillwee welcomes you to its underground surprises. Expert guides will accompany you on a leisurely tour through beautiful caverns, bridged chasms, weird formations and alongside the thunderous waterfall. Marvel at the frozen waterfall and explore hibernation chambers of long-extinct bears. Explore Europe’s largest rock garden, follow the trail up Aillwee Mountain and discover the ecological wealth and diversity that the Burren offers.
Talk a walk through the Hazel Woodland area following the many paths and walks. At the Farm Shop, taste and watch the award winning Burren Gold Cheese being made.
The Birds of Prey & Educational Centre, is set against stunning Burren backdrops and is home to one of the largest and most varied collection of Birds of Prey in Ireland. Open fronted aviaries offer visitors an opportunity to see the magnificent birds up close. Daily Flying Displays provide the rare opportunity to see many species in dramatic free flight. Our Hawk Walks are a once in a lifetime chance to interact with some of nature’s top predators.
