With 800 years of lighthouse keeping, this is one of the oldest lighthouses in the world. Part of Ireland’s Ancient East, Hook Lighthouse marks the entrance to Waterford Harbour at the mouth of the three sisters river system. Built by William Marshal, the Earl of Pembroke, to protect and develop the important shipping trade in the 13th century. Guided tours provide fascinating insights, stories and facts of this unique building, and offer a spectacular view from the balcony.
