Eastnor Castle is a stunning, 19th century fairytale castle, situated in the foothills of the Malverns, beautifully restored with many hidden treasures and collections. It is also the family home of the Hervey-Bathursts, descendants of John, 1st Earl Somers, who built the castle in 1812.
Designed to resemble a medieval Welsh-border fortress, Eastnor Castle is a perfect example of Norman and Gothic Revival architecture. Dramatically situated at the foothills of the Malverns, Eastnor sits within a private estate of breath-taking scenery in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and includes a deer park, lakes, woodland, quarries and hills.
As dramatic inside as it is outside, the fairytale castle features a number of magnificent rooms. These include: a vast 60 foot high Great Hall; a Gothic Drawing Room designed by Pugin, with its original furniture; a Long Library in the style of the Italian Renaissance; a dramatic State Dining Room for corporate and private functions; an Octagon Saloon featuring spectacular views over the lake; and a range of beautiful bedrooms for exclusive overnight stays.
The Hervey-Bathursts have lovingly restored the castle’s interiors and treasures to create a stunning, luxurious castle that is both grand and intimate, with a cosy lived-in feel. The interior hosts some spectacular collections ranging from early Italian Fine Art and Medieval Armour, to 17th century Venetian furniture, Flemish tapestries and paintings by Van Dyck, Reynolds, Romney and Watts.
We are open on selected days from Easter to the end of September. For groups wanting a guided tour these are available on Mondays and Tuesdays throughout the year which must be pre-booked and subject to availability.
