Compton Verney is an award-winning art gallery housed in a Grade 1 listed mansion. Set in 120 acres of ‘Capability’ Brown parkland within the beautiful Warwickshire countryside, and with a great team of staff and volunteers waiting to welcome you, Compton Verney is a unique day out for your group.

During your visit you can stroll around our parkland with its accessible and restored pathways and enjoy our six permanent collections of art from around the world. Your visit will start with a free introductory talk, when your group will discover how Compton Verney went from a stately home to derelict estate and was then rescued and transformed into the gallery you see today.

Our special 2016 exhibitions include: Painting Shakespeare, where visitors can immerse themselves in a uniquely staged experience of art and theatre in a series of multi-media encounters, including painting, photography, film, sound and light. Britain in the Fifties: Design and Aspiration, explore the history of post-war design through the experiences of the average British consumer. This fifties were dominated by the recovery from austerity and growing consumerism, which is explored in the exhibition through the design experience of an average young British couple, the domestic interior and the social and cultural landscape of this fascinating time. And finally Picasso on Paper Pablo Picasso (1881-1973) was one of the most inventive and prolific printmakers of the 20th-century. Each technique – including etching, lithography, aquatint and linocut – inspired new directions in his work and was used to develop the recurring themes of bull-fighting, the circus, portraiture and Old Masters. Featuring over 70 works from the collection of the Museum Kunstpalast in Düsseldorf, this exhibition traces Picasso’s evolving artistic vision through four decades of experimentation in printmaking techniques and subject matter.
