The last of the Pennyman line was Colonel Jim Pennyman, who lived at the Hall with his arts-loving wife Ruth. While exploring the intimate period rooms, visitors will hear inspiring tales of their generosity and acts of kindness, and will also discover a stylish legacy of another family member, ‘Wicked’ Sir James – whose extravagant lifestyle led him to gamble with the family fortune. The Hall also provides lively resources for local schools and community groups and is a unique venue for wedding and corporate events. Note: group visits outside of normal opening hours by arrangement.
