Still inhabited by the Strickland family, Sizergh has many tales to tell and certainly feels lived in, with centuries-old portraits sitting alongside modern family photographs. You can explore its gardens or venture into the 647 hectares (1,600 acres) of beautiful estate to spot the rich and diverse wildlife which also makes it their home. The atmosphere here is timeless, and it is an unexpected treasure at the gateway to the Lake District.
