This country retreat, with glorious views across the rolling Surrey Hills and acres of countryside waiting to be explored, was home to famous Edwardian hostess Mrs Greville, who entertained royalty and the celebrities of her time.
The house has stunning interiors and contains Mrs Greville’s fabulous collection of art and ceramics. The beautiful gardens have something for every season, including climbing roses, herbaceous borders and a winter garden. Our free interactive garden guide will help you make the most of your visit and there are waymarked walks, including across Ranmore Common – a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest.

Art and Collections
Designed to impress, a fabulous collection was essential for any Edwardian hostess. Mrs Greville's paintings, ceramics and objets d'art now form a nationally important collection including Dutch Old Masters, Fabergé, Meissen and British portraits by Reynolds and Raeburn. Tours available weekdays 10-11, and are additional to normal admission price.

Caring for Polesden and its treasures to Mrs Greville's exceptionally high standards is now the job of our dedicated team. This behind-the-scenes tour demonstrates modern conservation practices as well as historic methods of housekeeping. Tours available weekdays 10-11, and are additional to normal admission price.

Polesden Lacey Gardens
Beautiful gardens, steeped in history and full of stories. Something for each season: tulips and daffodils in spring; scented roses and mixed borders in summer; spectacular autumn views; and a rare Graham Stuart Thomas 'winter garden'. Our experienced guide will transport you back to a time of Edwardian glamour.
