On October 14th 1066, Anglo-Saxon and Norman warriors raged in day-long battle as they fought for the English throne. As dusk fell, William, Duke of Normandy, claimed victory and the course of English history changed forever. Through rooftop views, battlefield trails and interactive exhibitions, your group can explore the events of the day itself as well as the legacy it left. Our recently opened exhibition also introduces groups to the story of monastic life in the abbey which was founded by William in penance for the bloodshed.
