Sissinghurst Castle is a ruin of an Elizabethan manor house gently seated in the beautiful Weald of Kent. Once a prison to captured French seamen during the Seven Years War, a poor house and latterly a working farm, it gained international fame in the 1930s when Vita Sackville-West and Harold Nicolson created a garden here.
The estate, perfect for wildlife spotting and walking, also comprises our organic vegetable garden. Note: your booking will give you a timed entry into the garden. There is no guided garden tour. Evening visits to the garden with supper in the Granary Restaurant are available throughout the season on open days (groups 25+). We are delighted to offer booked lunches and afternoon teas for our group visitors.
