This great little award-winning Museum is situated in the charming Chilterns village of Great Missenden where Roald Dahl lived and wrote for 36 years. Visitors can find out about Roald Dahl’s life and stories using touch-screen monitors, interactive exhibits and activities.

The Museum comprises three galleries, along with George’s Crafty Kitchen, Miss Honey’s classroom, Café Twit and the Museum shop. The hands-on exhibits and displays, including the interior of Roald Dahl’s actual Writing Hut, allow visitors to explore the ‘stories behind the stories’ – Roald Dahl’s real-life experiences which inspired the books – with the intention of sparking imaginations and enthusiasm for word play, stories and creative writing.

Some of the most popular activities include making your own stop-frame animation film, exploring the cockpit of a WWII Gladiator, like the one Roald Dahl flew, testing your spark-factor on the Sparkometer and joining in the regular storytelling sessions.

In the school holidays and at weekends a wondercrump range of workshops, events and free storytelling sessions take place, from inspiring author and illustrator visits to creative crafty sessions. You might make an Oompa Loompa chocolate box, a Roly-Poly bird door hanger or even find your inner Willy Wonka on a chocolate decorating workshop. The Village and Countryside Trails lead intrepid visitors around the area to see the places that feature in the stories. Roald Dahl Day celebrations will be taking place at the Museum on Sunday 13 September 2015 - don’t forget to save the date!
