An intimate family home steeped in history, The Vyne has royal connections dating back to Henry VIII.
It contains, and has inspired, art, architecture and writers, including Jane Austen and J. R. R. Tolkien. The peaceful gardens are perfect for lakeside strolls or picnics on the sweeping lawn, and there is also a walled garden to explore. The ancient woodlands are abundant in wildlife and glorious in every season, from spring, when there are carpets of bluebells, to autumn, with its colourful leaves.

After a welcoming cup of tea or coffee with biscuits, join our enthusiastic volunteers on an exclusive tour of this intimate family home. Learn about the previously untold tales of family life, changing fortunes and legends, and see delicate objects such as the beautifully embroidered 18th-century waistcoat and other clothes.

Georgian Life and Jane Austen
After a welcoming cup of tea or coffee with biscuits, join our guides as they bring The Vyne to life in Georgian times, when Jane Austen visited the family and Caroline Wiggett, who was a real-life Fanny Price and possible inspiration for the heroine in her novel Mansfield Park.
